We Started out in 2006 in Virginia Beach under the name Neptune Turning. Once Neil left active duty from the Navy, we moved back home to New York. There we continued creating pen blanks and with the help of his dad (The C.yon) we designed and developed the very first Steampunk Art Glass Pen Holder. Since then we have created hundreds of creative handblown Glass Pen Holders, that have been sold around the world, with the professional help of ExoticBlanks.com.
After a bad car accident that injured Neil's back, we had to take a two year break from casting and glass blowing. Once he was back on his feet we decided to start fresh under a new name, hence "Upstate Blanks" was born.
We pride our selves in being innovative and always trying to be original. Our first blank design was the vertical thin blue line. Through trial and error we found colorants that worked well in Alumilite White that would cure to a deep jet blank. We developed the first round "Vertical-Thin blue line" pen blank and shared the process on the original "Pen Casting" group on Fb. This was a huge mistake on our part and we learned a valuable lesson about sharing great ideas with other casters on Facebook before we have a chance to market it our selves. Another mile stone for us was the first LED Bottle Stopper. LED in Resin is nothing new but to us it was a new direction that certainly has room to grow. Other creative blanks we help developed over the years are: Bosonic SuperString, Zip-Zag, Barrle Eyez, Pirate Bone, Tribal, Tribal Hearts, Evil-Eyez, and the original (50 shade pour) "NEBULA" Blank and o'Nebula blank, FrankinBlank and Budget Butter Bar Blanks.
We are very thankful for all our customers support and for all our fans on the UpstateBlanks Facebook fan group. We are very excited to continue making creative blanks and pen holders for the pen turning community to enjoy for years to come.
